Before 1017
Before the Name
A landscape of memory before a community came into view.
Before the name Druze entered history, the valleys and mountains of the Levant were already ancient. Their people carried memories of prophets, migrations, empires, and revelation.
There was no single, clearly documented “Druze people” waiting to convert. The community emerged from Levantine populations, Arab tribal histories, and the philosophical and religious world of Fatimid Ismaʿilism. In 1017, that world opened into a new call to divine unity.
